The Elementary PTO strives to enhance the educational programs offered to Orono K-5 students
through volunteering and fundraising.
The PTO promotes open communication and cooperation between teachers, parents and the school community.
The Orono PTO is a volunteer organization consisting of parents of Orono K-5 students. It is lead by a seven member Executive Board of parents, and the principals from Schumann Elementary and the Intermediate School. Executive Board meetings are held monthly. General PTO meetings are held four times per year and there are numerous PTO Events and Activities throughout the year. The Orono PTO provides significant resources every year to our students through our volunteer support and fundraising activities. This years’ PTO will sponsor and organize many enrichment programs such as class Field trips, Art Adventure, Academy Awards of Literature, Imagination Fair, Publishing Center, Pals on the Playground and Wolf Ridge Environmental Center. The PTO sponsors family events such as the New Families program, Family Game Night, Movie Night, and Orono Schools night at the Twins game. We raise funds through Innisbrook Gift Wrap sales, a Scholastic Book Fair, Mid-Winter Fun Fest (community carnival), Magazine Sales, and our Silent Fundraisers (Box Tops for Education, Campbell's, Kemps, and Land O' Lakes labels). The PTO also organizes Teacher Appreciation, Teacher Conference Meals, and Bus Driver Appreciation. Keep up on news and special events with the latest issue of the PTO Press, available on this web site and sent home with your student each month. Feel free to express your ideas about ways we can make Orono Schools a better place for our children. Together we can make a difference in our school and children’s lives.
